When you thought you have seen it all; you just haven't seen anything yet. Now for a weekend of more mysteries. Read the top five weird creatures this weekend.
1. Vampire Crabs:
Definitely not blood suckers like their names imply, these crabs have yellow eyes that glow. They have been around for quite sometime serving mainly as pets but their origin was not known till now. Their source can be traced to an Indonesian Island called Java. Unlike regular crabs you know, this specie is quite small, measuring less than an inch wide. Its like carrying a coin on one of your fingers. Their colours help them to communicate with their kind. Wouldn't you like to have them as PETS?
2. Dancing Peacock Spiders:
Quite freaky right? These spiders are just like miniature peacocks when it comes to display. In their world, it is the males that are brightly coloured and not the females and they use this and lots of dancing during courtship dances. They are also tiny, just 4 to 5 millimeters which is way less than a quarter of an inch. Not all species of dancing peacocks are colourful though but they do have nice footwork. They can be found in Western and South Australia and they are perfectly harmless. See what makes them good dancers by clicking here.
3. Blue Throated Keeled Lizard
Imagine seeing this in your kitchen or worst still, in your bedroom wouldn't you freak out? This lizard does not usually grow three tails. It is caused by a malfunction during the process of regenerating its tail. Another thing is that this lizard is frightened easily and perfectly harmless.
4. Rare Moonfish aka Opah
Also called Sunfish, Opahs are large, colourful, deep-bodied fishes. Though little is being known about this fish due to its solitary life, it does have a 'warm heart'. It is regarded as the first warm-blooded fish; it has the capacity to maintain its body temperature above the water's temperature. Its main diet are Krills and Squids. In terms of size, they could range from a car tyre to more than the size of 3 horizontally-stacked-up adult male humans.
5. Sea Bunny
While most of the creatures in today's series appear freaky, this specie is simply cute to behold. This specie is a type of sea slug called Jorunna parva and it is just 0.25 inches in size. They can be found in colours white, yellow and orange having black spots. It is an hermaphrodite.
Sadly, this bunnies have a little life span; having just a few months to one year.
They are equally very toxic. Any creature that consumes it does it at its own risk.
