Two Spanish giants face off in today's final of the UEFA Champions league. Ten time champions, Real Madrid, prepare to make it their 11th win and are equally favourites. On the other hand, Atletico are yet to win this trophy but have only come as far as the finals on two occasions, once in 2013/2014 and at present. All finals have been under coach Diego Simeone.
Diego Simeone will be hoping for his team to come out as winners this time around, having lost in their last finals to same Real Madrid. A late equaliser from Sergio Ramos denied them that opportunity of clinching their first ever champions league trophy.
For all their efforts, Atletico have only been able to win the Europa League cup in 2012 when they beat fellow Spanish club, Atletic Bilbao, by three (3) unreplied goals. They went further to beat reigning Champion League winners, Chelsea, in the 2012 UEFA Super cup.
Real Madrid will be in high spirits as Christian Ronaldo will be available for the finals. This follows from the injury scare incident that occurred during a training session where Ronaldo was seen leaping out. His presence has given fans and team mates alike the much needed boost and coach Zidane will be hopeful that he will leave up to expectation.
Kick off time is 7:45pm (Nigerian time)
