And yet again, another celebrity's marriage goes under just after two years of its existence. This time around it is renowned singer, Tiwa Savage, who has called it quits. Though it comes as a shock to many, it really isn't. In one of our posts titled, Can an expensive wedding ring save a marriage? and Keys to a successful marriage, we gave some reasons why all the glitz and glamour of weddings are just not enough to stop a marriage from hitting the rocks when it wants to.
What celebrities fail to understand is that marriage is about two people and not families. It is about two people trying to make it work, no matter the cost, and not trying to impress people. The so called 'society weddings' will keep on having this issue until the basics are of marriage are addressed.
Marriage is never easy and it requires lots of commitment, love, faithfulness, sacrifice etc. Funny enough, some MCs now make this statement while making toasts - "just as we are gathered here to celebrate with you, if you decide to divorce (God forbid) you will equally call all of us to gather here again to witness it".
Worst of it all is that they had to pour out their troubled marriage on social media when it should have been handled between them. Were they expecting the public to come to their aid and rescue their marriage?
We can only hope they have learned from their mistakes and get it right the next time they decide to walk down the aisle.
